LOCATION
Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute Library has located in the Pandith G.P. Wickramarachchi Memorial Library Building. It is being developed as a Higher Educational Library that introduced with the establishment of the Institute. The main objectives of this Library are firstly, to supply the readers library resources and books on Ayurveda, Indigenous Medicine, Medical Science, Health Science, Languages, ICT & Computer Science, Buddhist Philosophy & other related Subjects, secondly, to organize the library services as to disseminate knowledge, information, entertainment and to develop abilities with appreciation, and thirdly, to develop the library as a Special Library that is to be a state of an Ayurveda Research Library & Information Center.
To achieve its goals with implementing of these objectives, the library has organized as Reference Section, Lending Section, Rare Books Unit, Periodicals Unit, ICT, Research and Development Unit and Special Collections. The Library collection contains of more than 31,000 Books and Periodicals, books published in Sanskrit, Pali, Sinhala, Hindi, Bengali & English Languages. All of the books arranged in the Library are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC- 21st Edition) and catalogued in accordance with the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR-2 R).
The registered membership of the Library is about 620 members in quantity and the membership is given to the categories of (a) Internal Students (b) Postgraduate Students (c) Academic Staff (d) Non-Academic Staff and to (e) Senior Executive Staff.
